Day 4: My Definition of Multimedia

OK, I think that multimedia is any software application that can be mixed with technology or hardware that is used to communicate through text, graphics, sound, video, animation, or any other digital medium.

I know what you mean Cean...nice job of getting it all into one sentence! Mine has now evolved over the last 4 years (I still can't believe it's been 4 years since I attended Dr. Christie's boot camp).

I use it when I write grants supporting the need for equipment at my school:

Electronic multimedia provides an engaging and meaningful way for students and teachers to have control over the way they want to learn and communicate new information. It incorporates the best of what computer technology has to offer: virtual reality, live webcams, video, text, graphics and so on. Smith (2002) states that "understanding entails taking knowledge gained in one setting and using it in another." Creating and using visual arts with electronic multimedia provides its users with learning tasks that involve using multiple senses. They are seeing, hearing and actively engaged while creating and interacting with the multimedia.
