Day 12: Going on the Road

As teachers it is important to remember that you should always adjust your presentations depending on your intended audience. For example, if you are going to present to a young group of students you may want to keep your presentation relatively short and simple. Also, you may want to consider including some type of small or whole group activity that they can complete to get a better grasp of your message.

I agree Cean...I've always heard from others that they don't know how teachers can keep the young ones attention. We as teachers have learned over the years to keep it short and simple and follow it up with something they can practice or do to help them learn what we are teaching them.

They are a unique audience, however, when you can connect with them as an adult role model, it's so amazing. :O)

Cean,
Loved your music yesterday!
I also like to add some audience participation when I do a presentation, it keeps your audience alert and they become a part of the presentation.
I keep my students attention with think-pair-share activities, music and movement activities and having them help present the lesson. My kindergarteners love to participate in the lesson.

I can't agree more. It is so hard though. I have a tendency to turn into a college professor. One of the things that helps me is to use my kid voice. If I use my kid voice I make it short, simple, and accessible. The other way I do this is through planning. If I don't plan well I talk way above my audience and ramble on.

I so agree with the audience. you must always remember once your is on the web it is always there. this is a great argument to not attach a picture or content you are not willing to live with for a very long time.
